BUS
Myanmar’s road transport is different: there are luxury buses with air conditioning, others less luxurious but equally comfortable, local buses and 32-seater minibusses. Service management is very often private, and luxury buses travel almost always at night with departures from 4 pm to 10 pm.
TRAIN
Inaugurated in 1877 by the British, Myanmar’s rail network is constantly expanding. The most frequented trip by foreign tourists is from Yangon to Mandalay via Bago. Every train has two classes: the upper class and the ordinary class. The difference is that the first class has reclining seats, while in the ordinary they are rigid. Since the rail network is expanding, the train journey is recommended to tourists with a lot of time at their disposal as the locomotives are slow.
