Getting there

All travel agencies in Ho Chi Minh City organized trips on the Mekong Delta, which is the “rice field of Vietnam”, a place where time and life of its inhabitants are scanned and conditioned by the river. Forget the chaos of Saigon great because here, among islands and floating villages, you’ll discover another Vietnam.

The itinerary

To arrive on the Mekong Delta I asked information at one of the many travel agencies that populate Pham Ngu Lao Street in District 1 of Ho Chi Minh City. For only $ 9 they have proposed a river tour which included: the bus ride through a landscape dotted with rice paddies and pineapple plantations, a visit to the Vinh Trang Pagoda, famous for its architecture that combines the art of the West with that East of the country, a boat trip from the Port of My Tho to the islands with a stop in the province of Ben Tre to see the factory where it produces the coconut candies, a trip on a horse-drawn carriage and a lunch in Phoenix Island in a restaurant where there was the possibility to eat snakes, crocodiles and insects; and, at the end, a canoe trip to visit a small floating village where I got tea listening traditional music and from which I then I left to return to Ho Chi Minh City. Do you want to know how it went ? Watch the video of our trip to Vietnam and the anticipation of the last article about the seaside resorts of Phan Thiet and Mui Ne.
